Deal Alert : HTC One (M8) $150 off this weekend, Re camera 25% off

HTC says happy President's Day with price cuts to select products, including the outgoing HTC One (M8) flagship and the Re camera. You can grab the One (M8) straight from HTC's online store in the US at $500, $150 off its usual price.

The deal is valid only this weekend, President's Day commemorates George Washington's birthday and is celebrated on the third Monday of February (this year it falls on the 16th).

Anyway, you could get the One (M8) in any color you like and for any carrier (including Sprint's Harman/Kardon version), an unlocked phone or a developer phone. Note that the HTC One (M9) is less than a month away, we should see it at the MWC starting in March. So, $150 off sounds like a good deal but you may want to skip it.
We haven't seen leaks about a next-gen Re camera (which is no guarantee it won't be replaced). You can snag one for $150, 25% off its usual price. That's $50 less than the GoPro Hero 3 White, but $20 more than the base Hero.

The promo also includes select cases at half price - the Dot View Premium case ($25), the Flip case ($15) and the Double Dip case ($12.50).
As you can imagine, this promotion is US only.

T-Mobile HTC One (M8) is now getting Lollipop OTA

HTC seems to be keeping busy with updates to its current device lineup. Presumably the goal is to push Android 5.0 to as many capable devices as possible before this year's MWC event and the announcements it is going to bring. Now there is a mission we can definitely get behind.
Unsurprisingly HTC's One (M8) flagship device is a top priority and has been seeing a lot of Lollipop love lately. After the unlocked and Developer editions received the update and soon after that EU units and Sprint ones it is now time for T-Mobile's own ranks to get the much anticipated OTA.
Just as promised T-Mobile One (M8) units have started receiving update notices. The update is naturally staged so if you happen to own a T-Mobile unit be sure to check regularly as the package is on the way.

Besides the obvious aesthetic overhaul that Android 5.0 brings to the HTC there is also the matter of performance improvements. We have taken the liberty of retesting a few of our available smartphones which have received the Lollipop update and numbers are definitely looking good. The One (M8) showed formidable improvement with the new software in pretty much every aspect so Google definitely deserve praise for all their hard work.

Lollipop update for T-Mobile's HTC One (M8) rolling out on Monday

HTC has announced that the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for T-Mobile's HTC One (M8) will roll out starting next week.
Mo Versi, HTC's VP of Product Management, tweeted the news saying that the company has received the technical approval for the update, which will be rolling out over-the-air starting Monday.
The announcement came on the same day when Sprint's version of the HTC One (M8) started receivingthe Lollipop update.

Android 5.0 Lollipop for Sprint's HTC One (M8) rolls out today

Previously Sprint's version of the original HTC One from 2013 started receiving the update to Android 5.0 Lollipop. And today it's time for its successor to get the tasty treat too.
That's right, Sprint has made it official: the rollout for the Lollipop update for the HTC One (M8) starts today. As with all such over-the-air releases though, it may of course take a few (or more) days until it reaches all the devices out there. Rest assured that it is on its way, however.
It looks like the initial rollout time frame was set for next week, but for whatever reason Sprint decided to push things forward, which is definitely good news for owners of the One.
Your phone will notify you when it's ready to download and install the update. If it hasn't done so already, you can always manually check by going to Settings > System updates > HTC software update, and then tapping on Check now.
After applying the update, you'll be running build 4.20.651.10. Aside from moving the base to Android 5.0 Lollipop, this new software also removes the Lumen Toolbar.

HTC One (M8) is now getting Lollipop in India as we speak

The HTC One (M8) is receiving its Android 5.0 Lollipop update in India.Below is a screenshot of the system update changelog and it's based around the 4.18.720.8 firmware which amounts to 574.17 MB. That's less than the 780MB update users received in Europe although the changelog doesn't state a difference.

Users will get the Lollipop HTC Sense experience with a redesigned notification area will pull-down quick settings toggles, the carousel recent apps with bigger cards, the new Lollipop lockscreen, a search button in the settings menu and many other little and big improvements.
HTC is steadily upgrading its One (M8) - it has been receiving the firmware update to the latest Android version since last month but some devices will get a delayed update due to some issues HTC and Google are working on.
And if you want to check out how Android 5.0 Lollipop improved the performance of our HTC One (M8) you can check out our dedicated post.

Few HTC One versions lollipop update later than expected

Some carrier versions of HTC One (M8) and One (M7) will get updated to Android 5.0 Lollipop a bit later than expected. HTC initially promised to update all versions of its 2013 and 2014 flagship smartphone within 90 days of receiving the Android 5.0 code.
Mo Versi, HTC’s Vice President of product management delivered the news in a dedicated post. The delay is caused by issues Android 5.0 initially contained, which were subsequently fixed by Google with minor updates. HTC is working hard with Google and its carrier partners to incorporate the latter into its OS build.
HTC already updated several versions of the One (M8). They include the factory unlocked model, the Developer Edition, and the Google Play variant. Mo Versi promises “good news to share soon” on the rest of the One family.

Lollipop update for HTC One (M8) gets in Europe

The HTC One (M8) is taking the Android 5.0 Lollipop update around the world and today it has disembarked on the Old Continent. The news comes from Senior Global Online Communications Manager, Jeff Gordon, who posted it on Twitter.
Updates from users started in from users – Germany, France and Nordic gave the thumbs up, but the update is rolling out in waves so it may not be available in your region right this minute (about an hour ago there was a negative report from the UK).

The update spruces up the interface with a new lock screen and a new app switcher, but Sense 6.0 remains largely unchanged. The update is heftier than in other regions, weighing in at 780MB and brings the ROM version up to 4.16.401.10. Versions of the update for other regions were 580MB and 650MB.

You can go to the Settings menu to check if the update is available. Make sure you're on Wi-Fi though, that's a rather large download.

Lollipop kernel source available for unlocked and Developer Edition HTC One (M8)

HTC started rolling out the update to Android 5.0 Lollipop for the unlocked and Developer Edition units of the One (M8) in the US a couple of weeks ago, and today the Taiwanese company has made the next important step for developers.
It’s now posted the kernel source for its particular flavor of Sense-infused Android 5.0.1 Lollipop on its specialized developer website. This release is different than Google’s Lollipop kernel source exactly because it’s for phones running HTC’s UI overlay.
While this is of absolutely no use to normal users, it’s the exact opposite for developers of custom ROMs and kernels. They need these bits to properly do their magic, so if you run a custom ROM on your HTC One (M8) this is good for you. It means your favorite ROM will either get a Lollipop update soon, or, if it has already, that it has the potential to become more stable.

HTC One (M9) Plus and One (M9) shows up in photos, specs unveiled

HTC leaks are coming in that the One (M9) Plus, the bigger brother of the already rumored Htc One M9, if the company's press team actually decides to call it that.

HTC One (M9) Plus
The One Plus model will come with a 5.5-inch display of 1440x2560 pixel resolution, the source claims. The mighty Snapdragon 810 will run the show, joined by 3GB of RAM in a year when most flagships will likely come with 4GB.
Readings from the leaks , the design sees a departure from the established HTC styling . The bottom speaker grill will be replaced with a hardware button, where the fingerprint scanner is to be housed. How that  affects the HTC's famed audio performance remains to be seen.
The back is more typical HTC One material with dual cameras and two-tone LED flash. Apart from being a design element, the larger ring around the lens may hint at a 20.7MP main shooter. It is reportedly also going to be utilized in the regular One (M9), which has also appeared with a large cutout in its metal unibody.
IF you missed out on the leaks of the One (M9), they confirmed that the device will sport an octa-core processor and 3GB of RAM, without any additional details. BUT based on other unconfirmed (take it with a grain of salt) , the smartphone should come equipped with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 SoC, a 5-inch 1080p touchscreen, and a 20.7 MP rear camera (no more UltraPixels).
AS you may already know The Taiwanese Brand is holding an event called  "Utopia in progress"  on March 1, where all speculations will be put to an end.So dont forget to check for the update on 1st of march.
