10 most trending phones of the week

Major manufacturers are prepping for the MWC, finalizing the flagships that will shape the smartphone market for the rest of the year. As a result, the past week didn't witness major official launches but there was still plenty of movement in the charts.
The Top 10 trending phones chart is a list of the devices that gathered the most hits throughout the week. In other words, the chart represents the interests of the majority of people, and is an indication of what currently interests you.
Samsung claimed the top three again, but we have a new winner this week. The Galaxy A5 inched its way to first place, climbing from second position last week. Long-time favorite Galaxy Grand Prime surrendered the top spot but is still in the running. The Galaxy S5 retained its third position.
A fey new entries made it to the list this week. The yet-to-be-announced Samsung Galaxy S6 accumulated the most hits among the newcomers, driven by the bucket load of leaks. The Galaxy A3 was likely ushered in by its bigger brother, and the Tizen-powered Z1 completed the Koreans' strong performance. An unexpected Lumia 535 also managed to sneak in the chart, ending up in tenth position.

Using the Galaxy A5 and A3, Samsung breaks Guinness World Record for most selfies taken in a day

Samsung has set a new world record for the highest number of selfies taken in 24 hours. Following the launch of it’s Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A3 handsets in the South African cities of Johannesburg and Cape Town, the South Korean company invited people to use the two devices and take selfies.
A total of 12,803 selfies were taken with the company’s Galaxy A series devices, which was 3,000 more than the previous record. During the attempt, the tech giant also gave away 100 Galaxy A3 and A5′s, as well as several selfie sticks, to participants. You can check out the entire album of selfies here.
Announced back in October last year, both the A5 and A3 sport a premium all-metal unibody with a 5MP front-facing unit. As for the main camera, the former has a 13MP unit, while the latter features a 8MP unit.

Samsung Galaxy A3 and A5 will be available in UK starting February 12

Two representatives of Samsung's new metal A-series - the Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A5 are apparently making their way to the UK market. The devices will be available starting February 12 from Samsung UK, as well as a number of retailers, like Carphone Warehouse, O2 and EE.

Preorders should start today for both the Pearl White and Midnight Black color options, but pricing is still unclear. The two smartphones themselves are mid-range offerings, despite their flashy metal finish.
They come equipped with a Qualcomm MSM8916 Snapdragon 410 SoC and an Adreno 306 GPU. The main difference being the displays - a 4.5-inch 540 x 960 pixel unit on the Galaxy A3 and 5-inch 720 x 1280 pixel on the Galaxy A5 and RAM which is 1 GB and 2 GB, respectively.
We will be keeping a close eye on availability and if you are in the market for a mid-range Samsung device you could look into the Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A5 in our reviews. Hopefully The Korean tech giant is planning to push along the Galaxy A7 as soon as possible and offer a broader range of hardware choices with the new metal design.
