Crafty developer connects Moto 360 to iPhone 6

We all know too well that Android Wear support will never officially arrive on Apple iOS. However, the crafty Android developer MohammadAG has managed to pair a Moto 360 smartwatch with iPhone 6without jailbreaking or rooting any of the devices.
The connection between the two devices has been made via the Apple Notification Center Service. The feature arrived on Cupertino’s platform via iOS 7 and is also utilized to connect a Pebble smartwatch to an iPhone. See the functionality in action below.

For the time being, it seems that only text message notifications are supported. The developer might launch the necessary watch apk at some point in the future.

HTC One (M9) renders size it up against the Galaxy S6, iPhone 6

HTC One (M9) is yet to be officially presented to the world, so all we have to look at are hurried photos and leaked images promoting phone cases. Luckily, Martin Hajek is a wiz at making 3D models and he used all info available on the One (M9) to create a virtual phone and put it up against the Apple iPhone 6 and Samsung Galaxy S6.
The Galaxy S6 is also waiting for its official introduction, of course, but a few days ago Hajek modelled that one too.
Anyway, here’s a look at the HTC One (M9) by itself, it’s shaping up to be a beaut. Next up, three flagships stand side by side – the iPhone 6 is the shortest with its sub-5″ screen, while the Galaxy S6 is in between. Both the One (M9) and Galaxy S6 are expected to have 5″ screens. After that is a look at their backs and all the metal that the phones are encased in.

Here are a few simulated lifestyle images showing the One (M9) and its all-metal rival, the iPhone 6.

The renders match the spy shots we’ve seen so far, including the lack of a Duo Camera on the back. The centrally-placed selfie camera (4MP UltraPixel allegedly) come from “official” (not really) promo imagesfor the One (M9).

Goldgenie creates £2.3 million iPhone 6

Motorola lets you pick a wood or leather back for the Moto X (2015)? That's cute, Goldgenie lets you pick between diamonds, sapphires, rubies, topaz and emeralds to put on your 24K Gold, Rose gold or Platinum iPhone 6. Of course, those aren’t color names, those are the actual materials. You can top it off with Swarovski crystals on the Apple logo.
The diamonds – white, pink or black – are used to coat the sides of the device, leading to the name Diamond Ecstasy. Goldgenie is kind enough to offer you the option of bigger diamonds, so that you don't get laughed out of the private island club.

iPhone 6 Diamond Ecstasy in 24K Gold, Rose Gold or Platinum
The price is unspeakable – a run of the mill Rose Gold or Platinum iPhone 6 costs as little as £1,500 ora limited edition for £2,500. This one though costs £2.3 million ($3.5 million).
That’s the base price, by the way, you can always hop on your private jet and fly out to Goldgenie HQ and take a hands-on approach with the customizations. We don't imagine there's a ceiling on the final price, just try not to disrupt the EU's economy.

10 most trending phones of the week

Major manufacturers are prepping for the MWC, finalizing the flagships that will shape the smartphone market for the rest of the year. As a result, the past week didn't witness major official launches but there was still plenty of movement in the charts.
The Top 10 trending phones chart is a list of the devices that gathered the most hits throughout the week. In other words, the chart represents the interests of the majority of people, and is an indication of what currently interests you.
Samsung claimed the top three again, but we have a new winner this week. The Galaxy A5 inched its way to first place, climbing from second position last week. Long-time favorite Galaxy Grand Prime surrendered the top spot but is still in the running. The Galaxy S5 retained its third position.
A fey new entries made it to the list this week. The yet-to-be-announced Samsung Galaxy S6 accumulated the most hits among the newcomers, driven by the bucket load of leaks. The Galaxy A3 was likely ushered in by its bigger brother, and the Tizen-powered Z1 completed the Koreans' strong performance. An unexpected Lumia 535 also managed to sneak in the chart, ending up in tenth position.

iOS overtakes Android in the US in Q4 2014, report says

If you needed more proof about how successful Apple's iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus have been, especially in the US market, then this is going to be it.
According to the analysts at Kantar Worldpanel ComTech, iOS has managed to take the lead from Android in the US smartphone market in the fourth quarter of 2014 (so between October and December).
Granted, Apple's managed to sell only slightly more iOS devices than all Android makers combined - the difference is just 0.1%. Still, it's interesting because the last time something like this happened was in Q4 of 2012.
For the last three months of last year, Kantar says 47.7% of smartphones sold in the US were iPhones, while 47.6% ran Android. Windows Phone accounted for 3.8% of the market, while BlackBerry had to make do with just 0.3%.
Throughout the holiday quarter, the iPhone 6 was the best selling smartphone in the US, as well as the most popular handset to be given as a gift. Samsung's Galaxy S5 was the second best. When it comes to brand loyalty, Apple is leading again, with 87% in the US and Europe. Samsung fares the best out of the Android device makers with 62%.
Obviously though, Android remains the biggest mobile OS worldwide, with a 66.1% share in Europe and 77% in China. That said, smartphone penetration is still just 59% in the US and 67% in the top five European markets, which means there's still growth to come.
While reading the numbers above keep in mind that ComTech is a consumer panel, getting its data from interviews with ordinary people. This is different from other approaches, which prefer to track actual shipments of devices from manufacturers to retailers and carriers.

Xiaomi solves the problem of the protruding camera of the iPhone 6 using a frying pan

Xiaomi is going after the iPhone 6 Plus with its Mi Note and Mi Note Pro phablets, that’s clear. The Chinese company obviously thinks its offerings are superior to Apple’s, and it’s now put out a new video meant to drive that point home.

In it, we can see Xiaomi President and co-founder Bin Lin musing about how his company has a patented new solution which ensures there are no protruding cameras on its phones’ backs.
Said solution is nothing more and nothing less than a frying pan. Lin is literally using one of those on the iPhone 6 Plus’ back, and after a few knocks what ‘magically’ results is the non-protruding camera on the Mi Note.

Xiaomi boasts that in its devices, the camera is “integrated harmoniously with the phone body”. The company pledges to “level” any obstacles that might prevent it from “developing the best products to the fullest”, using the frying pan method of course. This apparently perfects the “user experience of mobile phones”.
So if you’re ever annoyed by the fact that your iPhone’s camera is of the protruding type, you now know what to do.

Amosu's limited edition pink iPhone 6

Amosu is known for its love of all things shiny and expensive, and for pairing those things with smartphones from time to time. The results are obviously not for mere mortals, but people who can afford to spend small fortunes on bespoke mobile devices.
For this year's Valentine's Day, Amosu is preparing to launch the "world's first pink iPhone 6". Yes, it apparently couldn't resist joining in on all the pink 'fun' that's coming up prior to said celebration of love and whatnot.
As you can see from the picture to the left, the pink iPhone 6 will look extremely pink - so it's only going to be for die hard fans of this color. That probably won't be a problem, however, since Amosu is only going to be making exactly ten units.
Each of those will cost £1,899. That's actually quite cheap when compared to other Amosu wares from the past, but do keep in mind that there are no diamonds here - just a new hue, basically, and the Alexander Amosu logo on the iPhone's back. Hopefully the "World's first pink iPhone 6" text is only in this image for promotional purposes and won't make it to the final product.
So there you have it. If your loved one has been craving a pink iPhone, there's now a solution for that. Don't forget - no case can ever be pink enough when compared to a real pink iPhone.

iOS 9 on iPhone 6 spotted in benchmark results

Apple typically announces new iOS versions at the WWDC, which is scheduled for June every year. While there's about four months to go, the first benchmark coming from an iOS 9 running on an iPhone 6 have hit the Basemark OS II database.
Performance seems to be on par, except for the web score. Keep in mind that WWDC is some time away and even when it comes Apple will release a version to developers only, the consumer update is even further out. So the numbers are likely to change until the new version hits users' iPhones.

There's just the one result in the database for now and no score for Basemark X, the graphics benchmark. Anyway, the best changes about a new iOS version are typically new features, rather than increased performance.
