Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 expected to get Android 5.0 Lollipop update by April

Samsung has commenced the roll out of the Android 5.0 Lollipop version updates for its Galaxy smartphones across the globe. Recently, Galaxy Tab S 8.4 with Lollipop update was pictured as well.
According to SamMobile, Samsung is testing the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update for its premium Galaxy Tab S 10.5 tablet with large Super AMOLED display. This update is expected to arrive either in March or April. Meanwhile, Google paces the development by hitting the Android 5.2 milestone.
Samsung has eased on the TouchWiz UI with the Lollipop update for its premium Galaxy smartphones. Now it would be interesting to see if any changes are made in the Magazine UX with Lollipop update for the powerful Tab S series tablets.

Successors for Samsung's Galaxy Tab S line are coming

According to a new rumor, Samsung is already busy working on developing successors to the Galaxy Tab S 8.4(pictured to the left) and Galaxy Tab S 10.5 tablets that it launched last year. The main standout feature for the existing Galaxy Tab S models is the fact that they both employ Super AMOLED touchscreens, something that had previously been missing from the mobile world for a few years.
The upcoming tablets will obviously keep the AMOLED technology of their predecessors' displays. The new models will be SM-T710 and SM-T810 (the originals are SM-T700 and SM-T800, respectively).
While no other details about the new devices are known at this time, it's safe to assume that they won't get some earth-shattering hardware upgrades. We might see them ship with a new chipset, perhaps Samsung's Exynos 7420which is expected to make its debut in the Galaxy S6 on March 1.
That may help the new Tab S generation perform better than the original tablets. We apparently shouldn't expect to see the new Tab S line unveiled at MWC alongside the Galaxy S6, since work on them isn't that advanced yet. They will be announced later, perhaps towards the middle of the year.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A and Galaxy Tab A Plus have detailed specs leaked

After having introduced us to a few new smartphone lines (A, E, and J so far), Samsung is apparently looking to use some new brands for its upcoming tablets too. According to a new rumor, we’ll soon see the Galaxy Tab A and Galaxy Tab A Plus lines on the market.

Though if you were expecting some high-end beasts, we’re sorry to disappoint. These will allegedly be nothing more than midrange offerings, perhaps meant to succeed the Galaxy Tab 4 line (of which the 10.1-inch tablet is pictured above). That said, the new devices will boast some intriguing features nevertheless.
For instance, the A Plus devices will come with the S Pen stylus – a first for any Samsung product not named Note, and also a first for such low-end tablets. And something else is new, too – all of these models will have touchscreens with 4:3 aspect ratios, just like the iPads and the HTC Nexus 9. It looks like Samsung was quick to embrace Google’s new direction in this space, dropping the 16:10 aspect ratio that’s been prevalent in the Android world since the first tablets came out.
The Galaxy Tab A and Tab A Plus will both come in two sizes, 8″ and 9.7″. Their specs will mostly be identical, save for the inclusion of the S Pen stylus in the Plus models, as well as slightly more RAM (2GB as opposed to 1.5GB). The battery capacity for the 9.7-inch tablets will also be higher than that for the smaller ones, naturally (we’re looking at 4,200 mAh and 6,000 mAh cells, respectively).
The screen resolution in all cases will be 1,024×768, identical to that employed by the first generation iPadand iPad Mini. Running the show for the 8″ models will be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 chipset, with a 1.2 GHz quad-core CPU in tow, while the 9.7-inch tablets are reportedly going to employ the yet unknown APQ8016 part from the same maker, again coupled with a 1.2 GHz processor.
As for cameras, a 5 MP rear snapper will be on the back, and a 2 MP unit on the front of all the A devices. Built-in internal storage will be 16GB, which we assume will be expandable through the use of microSD cards this being Samsung and all. The slates will be just 7.4mm thin, and will have both Wi-Fi-only and LTE-enabled variants.

Speculation depicts that Samsung SM-T239 may be called Galaxy Tab 4 Lite 7.0 LTE (64-bit chipset)

It seems that Samsung is updating its Galaxy Tab 4 lineup to 64-bit processors – the Galaxy Tab 4 10.1,the Tab 4 8.0 and now the Tab 4 7.0 as well. The 7″ device (model number SM-T239) was recently imported into India for testing.
The same tipster that sent us the Galaxy Xcover 3 info dropped us a line, saying that the market name of the tablet might be Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Lite 7.0 LTE (*takes breath*), so probably not a Galaxy Tab 5 model though that’s not 100% confirmed.
Also, while it packs a quad-core Cortex-A53 processor, it will not use a Snapdragon 410 chipset. Instead our source points to the Marvell Armada Mobile PXA1908. That’s the chipset that will allegedly be used in the Galaxy Xcover 3.
It’s also a successor to the PXA1088 used in the Wi-Fi only Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 (the Tab 4 7.0 3G used a Vivante chipset, the Tab 4 7.0 LTE had an Exynos 3). The new PXA1908 chipset supports both TD-LTE and FDD-LTE, along with 3G, TD-SCDMA and GSM, meaning it will play well with Chinese carriers.
Anyway, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Lite 7.0 LTE will launch with Android 4.4 KitKat though we don’t have an exact launch date. It can’t be long now that the device is in testing though.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S Pro sneaked and hinted on the Google Play Store

Samsung has updated its Milk Music app and the description of the app listing compatible devices reveals the company is preparing to unveil a Galaxy Tab S Pro tablet. The upcoming slate is likely to have its launch at the Mobile World Congress in March.
So far, nothing of the tablet has been leaked but its name. Still, this gives us a bit of an idea what it’s going to be about. The Galaxy Tab S line-up features Super AMOLED displays and the Pro moniker is most recently used by Samsung multiple times already for its Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 tablet.
Therefore, we wouldn’t be surprised to see a Galaxy Tab S Pro 12.2 join the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and Galaxy Tab S 10.5. It’s true that the company also used a Pro moniker for its high-end Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 andGalaxy Tab Pro 10.5, but the company is believed to stick the Pro moniker only to its largest slates going forward.
In any way, both Galaxy Tab S members are powered by the Exynos 5 Octa 5420 chipset, so the upcoming Tab S Pro is likely to feature some sort of home-baked chipset as well (hopefully Exynos 7420). The resolution of the 12″ Super AMOLED display of the Tab S Pro ought to be 1600 x 2560 pixels, like the rest of the family. Surely, the new tablet will also be as thin at 6.6mm or even less, due to the larger footprint. Expect more information as MWC draws closer.
