LG G4 to be unveiled in April, Korean media reports

The LG G4 was very much unlikely to be unveiled at the MWC a few weeks from now, and recent reports in Korean media leave no doubt about that. An LG insider is quoted saying that the successor to the QHD-packing G3 flagship has an April launch date on its road map.

The Mobile World Congress in Barcelona will be a battle for attention between hotly-anticipated top-end smartphones from Samsung and HTC, and LG aims to distance itself from all that clamor. An April release will let the dust settle after the high-profile launches and let the spotlight shine solely on the LG G4. It's also not a full year after the LG G3 was introduced in May 2014, so there's no ground for complaints either.
We should note that LG already has a top-notch device in the face of the G Flex2 to compete with the other flagships upon launch. True, it's a bit eccentric, but a Snapdragon 810 with 3GB of RAM are high-end specs nonetheless, and can buy the company a few months of extra development time for the G4.

Leaked doc points to QHD screen on the LG G4

There are two rumors about the LG G4 – one claims a 3K display, another claims a QHD one (what some might call 2.5K). A third piece of evidence swings the vote in favor of QHD, this comes from a leaked XML file extracted from a Lollipop ROM.
The file lists the LG F500 as "G4 (QHD)." It has three versions (S, K and L), which correspond to the three major carriers in South Korea. The LG G3 is F400 with the same three versions. To clear up initialism "QHD" stands for 1,440 x 2,560px while "3K" is 1,62 x 2,880px.

This entry is surrounded by the LG F490 (LG G3 Screen) and LG F510 (LG G Flex 2), both with FullHD resolution, which corresponds to the official specs.
A fourth, unknown device "LG F540" will have an HD screen (that's 720p). It's not clear what this is, it doesn’t correspond to LG G mini numbers, but the LG Aka has a model number of F520, which has a 5" 720p screen.
Anyway, this leaves the question of the 3K screen on the LG VS999, a Verizon phone according to the model name. This may be a bespoke version for the carrier, AT&T's version will have a QHD display (1,440 x 2,560px). Either way, we won't see them at the MWC, the G4 announcement is expected later this year.

LG H811 - LG G4? - certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance

Yesterday the Wi-Fi Alliance certified the LG H811 for Wi-Fi compliance (a/b/g/n/ac). The phone is based on Android L, that is Android 5.0 Lollipop, and there's speculation that this is the AT&T version of the upcoming LG G4.
A week ago the H810 User Agent profile (H810, close enough to H811?) revealed a QHD screen, that is 1,440 x 2,560px. That doesn’t mesh with another UA profile from a few days ago which points to a 3K display (1,620 x 2,880px). We'd say the higher resolution screen is for an upcoming LG G Pro, but unconfirmed rumors from late last year say that LG axed the G Pro 3 to focus on the LG G4.

It's entirely possible that carrier-specific versions will have different resolutions too. Whether it's because of yield, because AT&T wanted it that way or another reason, the difference between QHD and 3K will be a challenge for your eyesight.
Most likely the LG G4 will not be unveiled at the MWC – May sounds a better bet, since the LG G3 launched at the same point last year.

The upcoming LG G4 might be sporting a 3K display

The yet to be announced LG G4 might pack a 3K display. A screenshot of a user agent profile revealed the possible bump in screen resolution over LG G3.
The leaked document reveals an LG handset with the model number LG-VS999, sporting the eye-popping screen resolution of 2880 x 1620 pixels. LG G3 for Verizon features the model number LG-VS985, so we might indeed be looking at its successor.
Curiously, another LG G4 suspect leaked out a couple of weeks ago with the AT&T model number H810and 2560 x 1440 display. This leads us to think that the Verizon model might be more tricked out than its other carrier siblings.
Nobody should be surprised in case the above scenario pans out. Verizon has a history of launching versions of popular smartphones with higher specs in the past. Sony Xperia Z3v and Motorola Droid Turbo are two recent examples.
Rumored specs of LG G4 include Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC, 4GB of RAM, 16MP camera, and 5.5” display. The handset is expected to debut in the near future.
