The latest Apple iPad shows off its music making traits

Apple released a brand new iPad commercial. The Cupertino giant’s latest ad focuses on the tablet’s music making credentials.
The Swedish recording artist Elliphant is starring in the minute-long clip alongside iPad Air 2.Unsurprisingly, the video focuses on the artist’s use of the tablet during the process of creating a new tune. Check it out below.

In case you love the song from the clip, its name is “All or Nothing” by Elliphant (Riton iPad Remix feat. The Gaslamp Killer). Of course, you can find it in iTunes.

Paper for iPad by FiftyThree is now free to use

The Paper app for iPad, made by the folks at FiftyThree, has today gone 100% free. Previously, you were able to install the app without paying, but you had to shell out $0.99 for each of the following tools: Draw, Sketch, Outline, Write, Color, and Mixer.
From today on these become free, which essentially means you can use the whole app for free. The decision to stop charging for the tools in the app probably means FiftyThree now expects to make enough money to stay afloat simply from sales of its Pencil stylus.
This looks like a pencil, as you’d expect, but it’s quite smart too. Not content with simply being just another capacitive stylus, it has built-in Bluetooth, which it uses to communicate things such as pressure details to its iPad app. Palm recognition is in too, so when you draw or sketch using Pencil and press your hand on the touchscreen, this won’t be registered as a touch. The Pencil stylus starts at $49.95.

Probable case for the upcoming Apple iPad Pro

Purported live photo of a protective case for the yet to be announced Apple iPad Pro made the rounds online. The image was posted by Nowhereelse and is said to come from a reliable source.
The photo gives us a potential glimpse of the upcoming tablet’s hardware controls. A notable new feature that the large-screen iPad might bring is high-quality sound – the quartet of evenly placed cutouts on the case are most likely made for speakers.
Furthermore, the image clearly reveals cutouts for the tablet’s volume rocker and Lightning port, as well as its camera. Cellular connectivity is also all but certain – the slot on the side of the case is likely for a SIM card.
Curiously, the leaked case falls in line with an artist rendering of the iPad Pro from a few days ago. The 3D model of the upcoming slate also showcases four speakers.
Apple iPad Pro is expected to launch at some point in Q2 or Q3 this year. The full-size slate is all but certain to launch with an optional stylus.

Artist’s show off rendering for what the 12-inch iPad Pro might look like

Apple is apparently working on a larger tablet, as indicated by schematics published in Japanese magazine Macfan. These drawings have been the source of artist Martin Hajek‘s inspiration to create a 3D model of the upcoming device.
The renderings before our eyes represent an informed guess as to what the iPad Pro might look like. And while the tablet model itself might be based on genuine data, the stylus is purely the artist’s interpretation, of course in keeping with Apple’s design language.

The detailed dimensions in the schematics and the persistent rumors of a 12.2-inch display have resulted in generous bezels, a requirement for a secure grasp of such a large device. Rendered next to an iPad mini 3 and iPad Air 2 the future larger tablet is simply a scaled up version of those. Which is likely the path the Cupertino giant will take with the design, judging by previous experience.
Rumors have hinted that the iPad Pro will come with a stylus, and we get to see the artist’s take on the matter.

His vision is that the pen will be packed with functionality, featuring the iWatch’s sensors and crown on top, as well as a capacitive slider, presumably for scrolling and zooming. It’s not very slim, though, making it impossible to tuck into the body of the tablet. The crown on top of the stylus governs the diameter, so if Apple do opt for such a solution, they will need to implement some trickery to make sure you don’t forget the stylus on the coffee table on your way to work.
