Samsung Galaxy J1 4G with quad-core CPU is now official

Samsung Galaxy J1 was announced about two weeks ago and is already available for purchase in India. Today, Samsung India announced an upgraded version of the device with faster CPU and 4G LTE support.

We were tipped a while ago that more Galaxy J1 versions are coming, including a quad-core one. This turned out indeed true as Samsung India revealed a new Galaxy J1 4G with better processor. The Galaxy J1 4G packs a 4.3" WVGA display, runs on a quad-core 1.2GHz CPU with 768MB RAM, and comes with 4GB of expandable storage.
The rest of the specs of Galaxy J1 4G include 5MP rear cam, 4G LTE connectivity, dual-SIM, 1,850 mAh battery and Android 4.4 KitKat OS.
Samsung Galaxy J1 4G will hit the shelves in March in blue, white and black colors. The expected retail price is INR 9,990 or €140.
Two 4G-capable smartphones will launch in India side by side with the Galaxy J1 4G this March - theGalaxy Grand Prime and Galaxy Core Prime. They both will cost the same as the Galaxy J1 4G - INR 9,990.

Samsung J1 Launching on Amazon India, February 11

The budget-oriented Samsung J1 will go on sale in India on February 11. The device will be available through Amazon for a price tag of just INR 7,190 or about $115. The J1 was unveiled a few weeks ago as part of Samsung's recent lineup expansion and is hopefully the pioneer of a brand new affordable J-series.

The entry-level smartphone is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor. The device sports a 4.3-inch WVGA (480 x 800 pixels) display, and comes with 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of internal memory (expandable up to 128 GB via a microSD card).

It features a 5 MP camera with LED flash on the back, a 2 MP front snapper, and also packs in a 1850 mAh removable battery that the company claims provides up to 10 hours of talk time. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi b/g/n with Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS + GLONASS. Weighing in at 122 grams and measuring 129 x 68.2 x 8.9 mm, the J1 comes with Android 4.4 KitKat on board, and is available in blue, black, and white.

Galaxy J1 now official on Samsung Malaysia website

Just a few hours after we gave you an exclusive sneak peek at the device’s photo and specs, the Samsung Galaxy J1 has been made official - it is now listed on the company’s Malaysia website.
Pretty much in-line with what we’ve already noted, it’s an entry-level smartphone powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor. The device sports a 4.3-inch WVGA (480 x 800) display, and comes with 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of internal memory (expandable up to 128 GB via a MicroSD card).
The smartphone features a 5 MP camera with LED flash on the back, a 2 MP front snapper, and also packs in a 1850 mAh removable battery that the company claims provides up to 10 hours of talk time. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi b/g/n with Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS + GLONASS.
On the software side, the device boasts a Palm Selfie function that the company claims can detect the movement of your hand, so you can easily snap a photo with a simple hand gesture. There’s also a Tap to Take Pics feature that lets you take photos by simply tapping anywhere on the screen. The smartphone also features Ultra Power Saving mode.
Weighing in at 122 grams and measuring 129 x 68.2 x 8.9 mm, the J1 comes with Android 4.4 KitKat on board, and is available in blue, black, and white.
