Asus Zenfone 2 launching in India in Q2, Zenfone Zoom in Q3

Asus has confirmed that the Zenfone 2 will go on sale in India in Q2, 2015. The confirmation was made by a company executive at the EeeBook X205 launch event, where they also said that most of the products that the company announced during CES last month will also be available in the country.
As for the the Zenfone Zoom, the device will hit the market just after Zenfone 2's launch, which means sometime in Q3 this year.
According to Asus India country head Peter Chang, the company is also planning to postpone the launch of the ZenWatch, which was announced at IFA 2014. The device, which was earlier scheduled to launch in Q1, will hit the market after the launch of the Zenfone 2, Zenfone Zoom and Windows 8.1 based ZenBooks.

Asus to release Qualcomm and Mediatek-powered Zenfone 2

The Asus Zenfone 2 was one of the major announcements at CES in the beginning of January, offering powerful hardware in a budget-conscious package. Aiming to diversify its component suppliers list, the Taiwanese company is set to release more versions of the smartphone, replacing the Intel chipset with Qualcomm and Mediatek offerings.

The original Zenfone 2 is equipped with either an Intel Atom Z3580 or Z3560 and 4GB or 2GB of RAM. The Qualcomm variant will sit in a lower-priced market segment, and will become available in Q2. The Mediatek-powered option will be targeted at markets like India where LTE capability can be omitted. Adding to the company's already less-than-obvious naming scheme, the new models may further complicate selection.
The specsheet of the smartphone is otherwise headlined by a 5.5-inch IPS display of 1080p resolution for a 403ppi density. A number of storage option will be available ranging from 16GB to 64GB. A 13MP/5MP camera combo is responsible for picture taking and the whole thing is powered by a 3,000mAh battery.
A detailed availability roadmap has also been revealed. The Zenfone 2 will first arrive in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, China, and surprisingly France, in March. Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, Italy and the US will follow suit in April, while Japanese folks may get it in May. Brazilians will need to be even more patient and wait until June.

Asus Zenfone 2 on the way to Malaysia, could reach as early Q2 2015

The good news from Malaysia just keeps on coming. Yesterday we reported that Asus is releasing a new entry-level addition to its lineup - the Zenfone C. Now new information from the Taiwanese company states that the Asus Zenfone 2 could be available in Malaysia as early as April 2015. TheZenfone Zoom is will also by hitting the market, although possibly at a later point in time.

As most of you surely remember the Zenfone 2 made its first appearance at CES 2015 and has been generating attention ever since. For a lot of people the smartphone is just what they are looking for in their next device. It offers formidable hardware for a pretty tantalizing price tag.
The Zenfone 2 uses a quad-core, 64-bit Intel Atom Z3580 processor (Z3560 in some regions) and runs Android 5.0 Lollipop with the latest ZenUI from Asus. It boasts a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS display and an impressive 13MP main camera with dual LED flash. A lot of memory options are available with 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB units. The choice extends even further with 2GB or 4GB of RAM.

Pricing is still unclear, but seeing how Asus has a track record of sticking with roughly the same price as its home market a good guess would be that the 2 GB version will go for about $199, while the 4 GB should set you back $299. Following the same logic the Zenfone Zoom should be sold for about $399 once it becomes available.
